My gratitude, Deena. In draught-stricken New Mexico, where I live, there is also a rush to build AI data centers, and there is robust resistance to these efforts. May we stay stubborn on behalf of life.
from Sara Wright: I cannot respond to these heartrending posts because I never get the damn codes on my computer - all of this is making me crazy - so I am hoping this gets through. Regarding AI it is almost beyond my comprehension that these machines are taking over the world - and I just can’t stand wha tis happening - codes - codes codes - privacy issue all of it is shutting me out and down - I race into the woods where I can find them - for my fucking sanity. Thank you thank you for not giving up.In solidarity and with deep respect
Thank you, thank you, thank you, dear one. THANK YOU. So many of us are overwhelmed even to think about or take on AI. I was just visiting my family in Northern Virginia and my sister tells me there is a massive data center, blocks and blocks of it, near her home, humming and hissing all day and night. It made her shiver. It made me shiver. But you—YOU dive in, you read, you research, you tell us how to resist. And I/we will. Of your many utterly true statements, you point out that, inevitably, these AI systems mirror the minds, priorities and the choices of the men who made them. And, you also point out that to say, “Oh well, they’re here, we must adapt,” is how fascism becomes “inevitable.” I am beyond grateful for your stubbornness, your anger, your awe of true beauty, the actual intelligence of our earth, and your articulate writing. With you, I join the resistance.
And such a statement, as you have posted here, with these details, create what we must have, a conversation that implies collaboration and alliance and doing the necessary, but also possible work, together.
I pray for the 100th monkey, the thousandth goddess, the “one more” who tips the scales. Thank you, Deena.
Well said. Thank you, Deena.
Thank you, Max, for all your work on behalf of Earth and Thacker Pass.

My opinion at this point. Just stuff it and be on with it.
